Estates, collections and unsorted boxes

Estate and Collection Buyer in Rhode Island

Bring the whole box, drawer or collection. No sorting needed.

Settling an estate, downsizing or finally opening the boxes in the basement? You do not need to sort, clean, research or identify anything first.

Bring it to Warren Exchange in Warren, Rhode Island. Tara will go through it with you, explain what she finds, and make a clear, no-pressure offer for the items we can purchase.

Walk-ins welcomed during regular business hours. Appointments available for dedicated time with Tara.

Do Not Donate It. Do Not Discard It. Bring It Here First.

A box of jewelry, an album of coins, a drawer of silverware, a shelf of old watches. Families and executors often have no idea what is valuable, and many things are donated or thrown away before anyone has checked.

Bring the whole collection as you found it. We will go through it, test what needs testing, and explain what we see in plain language.

Sometimes the best advice is to sell - and sometimes Tara may tell you that an item is worth keeping.

What We Look At in an Estate or Collection

Bring us:

  • Gold and silver jewelry, including broken and tangled pieces
  • Coins, paper currency, tokens and collections
  • Sterling silver and silver-plated flatware and serving pieces
  • Costume and vintage jewelry
  • Pocket watches and wristwatches
  • Antiques, collectibles and unusual finds
  • Albums, folders, holders and original boxes
  • Unsorted household boxes and the mystery items at the bottom

Not sure whether something belongs on the list? Bring it with you.

Keep It Together

Keep albums, envelopes, labels, holders, receipts and handwritten notes with the collection. These materials may provide useful information about where an item came from or how a collection was assembled.

Avoid dividing the collection among family members, taking items out of their holders or bringing valuable-looking pieces to several different places before the entire collection has been reviewed.

Start with the whole collection. It provides a clearer picture of what you have.

Every collection is different. What it is worth depends on what is in it.

How Selling an Estate or Collection Works

  1. 1

    Bring the whole collection

Boxes, bags, albums, drawers and unopened containers are all welcome. Keep everything together, with any paperwork.

  2. 2

    We examine and test

We look for hallmarks and test metals when needed. Whenever practical, testing is done in front of you so you can see the process.

  3. 3

    We explain what we find

We separate what has value from what does not and explain why in plain language.

  4. 4

    You decide whether to sell

If you would like to sell, we make an offer. There is no need to sell simply because you brought the items in.

Went here to exchange silver and other estate valuables for cash.Tara was friendly and carefully explained the details of our interaction. I highly recommend her and her store for these transactions.

Visited Tara at Warren Exchange for the first time after finding her shop by google search. I liked that this is a small family business.I had some jewelry left to me by family that was just taking up space.Tara explained her evaluation process and showed us the results as she tested the gold. She has a very honest, pleasant manner and I felt her offer was fair. In fact I was pleasantly surprised by her offer to buy my gold and costume jewelry! I would recommend Tara to anyone.

This was my first time going to the Warren Jewelry exchange. I was greeted with a smile from Tara. I had some old vintage jewelry and I had no idea where to go or who I could trust. She explained everything she was doing piece by piece and I was greatly surprised when she found a couple of pieces that were worth more money than I thought. I would recommend her 100% and I look forward to going back with other pieces that I have.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to sort or clean anything first?

No. Bring everything as you found it. Sorting or cleaning first can damage collectible details or make it easier to overlook something valuable.

Can I bring a large collection or an entire estate?

Yes. Use the appointment button to reserve a convenient time, especially for a large group or estate. You may also call or text (401) 245-5001 with questions.

What if I do not know what anything is?

That is completely fine. You do not need to know the maker, the metal, the age or the value. We examine each piece and explain what we find.

Should I bring paperwork and original boxes?

Yes. Albums, holders, labels, receipts, handwritten notes and original boxes can provide useful information about where an item came from.

Do I have to sell after you look?

No. If you would like to sell, we make an offer. There is no obligation, and sometimes Tara may tell you that an item is worth keeping.

Do you make house calls?

Yes, by appointment. Tuesdays are set aside for private appointments and house calls. Call or text (401) 245-5001 or use the appointment button to set one up.

Do you test gold and silver in front of me?

Whenever practical, yes. We explain what we are doing as we go so you can see the process.
